La Cienega Tennis Center

Best Public Tennis Courts, August 2014

As with many things in Beverly Hills, the courts at the city-run La Cienega Tennis Center are a step up from those in neighboring L.A. Residents of the gilded burg pay a mere $10 for an annual reservation card; for everyone else the card costs $20, plus $3 per hour. It’s worth every penny. The 16 green-and-blue courts (the colors of those at the U.S. Open) are immaculate, and the fences separating them guarantee that errant balls won’t interrupt your set. A stylish outdoor lounge, complete with canopies and upholstered black wicker chairs, conveys the sense of a private club.
