Best Fire-Dancing Class, August 2012
The quest for a hot body meets hippie spirituality in the burgeoning trend known as fire dancing. At Fire Groove, held at the Groove Spot, a quartet of instructors teach fire spinning in its many forms, including poi (Maori style with a ball attached to a cord), staff (Polynesian-style warrior dancing), and even fire eating and painting. Students learn to safely maneuver tools before lighting up the sky in a spectacular ceremony on the beach. It’s a fun and sexy way to improve your strength, coordination, and flexibility. Better yet, you can make like Katy Perry and show them you’re a firework. » 671 N. Berendo St., East Hollywood.
