Daisy Mae Duke would have hit this tiny cottage for Levi’s cutoffs and lace-trimmed Coors tank tops if she shopped Topanga. But the headliner is the signature accessories line, Heyoka Leather, which was started by three gal pals. Rough-edged purses bear abalone buttons, and necklaces are strung with brass beads and semiprecious stones. Our favorite piece was a black leather poncho with studs and hand-tied fringe, just right for a ride on the back of a motorcycle.

Hippie-chic vintage clothing and organic beauty products abound at Heyoka Hideout. The Topanga Canyon bungalow is also home to Heyoka Leather’s line of handmade bags, pouches, and breastplates, many festooned with the 1970s-inspired fringe that shimmied down runways this year. The cozy store feels like a time capsule from the canyon’s storied alternative past, with just the right wares for dropping into that decade.
