Fountain Pen Shop

Best Fine Writing Instruments, August 2009

In an industrial park on a forgotten tendril of Monrovia, the Fountain Pen Shop is more reliquary than retail outlet, an anachronism in the Twitter age. Its inventory of gold-nibbed numbers by Waterman and Visconti’s is smaller than that at Westwood’s Flax Pen to Paper, but the place has a vintage section, a tiny museum, and 81-year-old pen surgeon Fred Krinke with his jeweler’s loupe.
