Best Tween Clothing, August 2010

True, you might have to talk your daughter into the $40 Levi’s instead of the $106 True Religions. But at least you’ve got the choice. Bloomingdale’s is the best meeting point between tween-friendly styles and budget-strapped wallets. The department store doubles as a place to teach quality over quantity—all while snagging a pink-and-navy rugby-striped Splendid tee or a Petit Joie crinkled silk dress with embroidery. Brand-new to the department: girls’ shoes by Stuart Weitzman and Michael Kors. For boys there’s Quiksilver and Diesel, lots of music-themed tees, and an entire Polo section. Unlike many stores, this one doesn’t make you feel as if you’ve been transported into a Hannah Montana video.
