Best Beach Cabanas Open to the Public, August 2012
Don’t fight for space on the sand; rent one of three cabanas at Paradise Cove, next to Bob Morris’s Beach Cafe. The tiki structures are separated from the hoi polloi by a white picket fence and equipped with couches, chaises, and ice chests. These “shacks” aren’t cheap ($350 on weekdays and $450 on weekends until September), but they comfortably hold a dozen people, who can lounge like sultans. If that’s too rich for your blood, relax on one of the 26 umbrella-shaded blue double beds, which go for $50 a pop. » 28128 Pacific Coast Hwy., Malibu.
