Dora Herrera, whose parents started the original Yuca’s in 1976 in a Los Feliz parking lot, has opened a branch of the James Beard Award-winning favorite in the old Casa Diaz spot across from Cobras & Matadors. Her hours are longer (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), and her menu is larger, with chicken and chorizo as well as beef and pork dishes. Look for homemade soups and juicy burritos (a supreme cochinita pibil version), as well as tacos, taquitos, moles, and wallet-shaped tamales. The space is burger-stand tiny, but fans of the flagship are already making the pilgrimage.
