The Swinging Door

Any barbecue joint worth its sauce is often tucked away in a nondescript, rickety location, serving big portions at low prices. The Swinging Door, a small shack that shares a parking lot with a gas station, doesn’t disappoint. Inside, a few tables line brick walls. Nothing touches coals here. The baby back ribs, hot links, chicken, and brisket are all smoked out back and slathered with a tangy sweet sauce. Potato salad is rich and creamy; mac and cheese is not. Deep-fried Twinkies or fruit cobbler for dessert.
