Sauce On Hampton
It’s not much to look at—a handful of tables, no wine list, and often just a single waitress—but details like the crispy char on the grains of brown rice tell you that someone thoughtful is in the kitchen. At the age of 25, Sassan Rostamian opened Sauce with his brother, Saul, after a stint as lunch chef at Rustic Canyon. The menu reflects that market-driven experience, with an even more healthful twist. Organic salads are laden with ingredients like shaved fennel and macadamia nuts. A house-made veggie burger comes topped with fat wedges of grilled zucchini. Firm baby broccoli is sautéed with garlic and served with a Chinese-style pulled pork. In the a.m.: a menu of omelettes, steel-cut oatmeal, and a breakfast burrito.
