Pho Café

To find Silver Lake’s signless Vietnamese phenomenon, just look for the hipster herd waiting 30 minutes or more to slurp down rice noodles drowned in a rich, spicy broth with meat (or not). Number 7, pho tai, is a mound of rare, shaved beef accompanied by a plate of mint, basil, bean sprouts, and a lime wedge to stuff into the brimming bowl. A handful of tables stretch to the back of the narrow room, where sunny orange chairs and IKEA-style light fixtures elevate this spot above the ho-hum norm. Complete your nosh with an order of fresh rice paper spring rolls and a large bottle of Tiger beer.
