Little Next Door

The Little Door folks had Parisian cafés in mind when they conjured their gourmet food market. One side has a wine cellar, another is stacked with intriguing preserves in mason jars (eggplant marmalade, anyone?), and the counter takes orders for European sandwiches, salads, pastries, and fresh breads. A “spinach and feta purse” consists of croissant dough stuffed with onions, Parmesan, and pine nuts; a wild mushroom chausson is puff pastry, truffles, leeks, and béchamel; and the banana and strawberry napoleons are divine. Outside, waiters in striped shirts and dark caps wend their way among the checked bistro chairs.
