LaMill is still the only place in town to enjoy siphon-brewed estate-grown coffee while sitting on a faux crocodile-skin chair. The food, designed by Providence chef Michael Cimarusti, has evolved to include a full dinner menu that skews Asian. Our favorite from the all-day offerings is the Asian BLT sandwich with pork belly and a preserved black bean spread. Breakfast is indulgent, with stone-ground brown sugar polenta and egg dishes finished with lardons of Niman Ranch bacon.

Best Brunch with Your Pup, August 2012

With the Silver Lake dog park across the street, it would be cruel not to allow pooches on the patio at LaMill. The boutique offers complimentary treats; the café, the city’s best iced water. Relax while your buddy laps up L.A.’s finest from a shiny metal water bowl. » 1636 Silver Lake Blvd., Silver Lake.

Best Iced Coffee, August 2009

At LAMILL Coffee in Silver Lake, iced coffee isn’t just old hot coffee poured over ice. It’s formulated in its own way: A 32-liter, cold-brewed batch takes about 18 hours to make. Starting in August, LAMILL will introduce tableside iced coffee, made to order in four minutes and without any hint of bitterness.
