Hai Di Lao Hot Pot
Best Perks While Waiting for a Table, August 2015
At peak times the wait to gain entry into Hai Di Lao Hot Pot—Arcadia’s wildly popular Chinese hot pot import—can take up to three hours. (And no, they’re not giving away iPhone 7s.) But ask folks in the queue whether the lamb swished in sizzling Sichuan broth is worth it, and they’ll say yes, partly because of the generous freebies the restaurant offers to ease the monotony. There’s a stocked (and up-to-date) rack of periodicals for perusing, watermelon juice and fruit cups for refreshment, snacks such as popcorn and fish skewers for munching—even board games, should your repose be long enough to put a few hotels on Park Place.
