Du-par’s has finally completed its makeover. We’re fans. Sit outside, where a white picket fence marks the perimeter, or inside in a roomy booth. There’s often a line at mealtimes, but servers are fast. At breakfast they bring out those trademark fluffy pancakes—still slightly crisp on the edges—thick strips of bacon, and endless cups of coffee. Lunch and dinner menus do nostalgia right: tri-tip French dip, steak or chicken potpies, Welsh rarebit, turkey with all the trimmings. This is still one supreme coffee shop
