The old Maurya has been rejiggered with a warmer color palette, a 15-foot water wall, and Indian music videos playing over the bar. Northern tandooris (chicken, lamb, fish, shrimp) and southern curries (same staple ingredients) are offered along with a garlicky lentil soup with crab and basil, black tiger prawns with pomegranate seeds, or a cauliflower-broccoli stir-fry. Great spot for vegetarians. This is the sister restaurant to Chakra in Irvine but not related to Chakra in Manhattan Beach.
