Scoop-specialist Carmela offers seasonal flavors of sorbet inspired by herbs and spices; about four varieties are offered each day. Go for the tart lemon-basil or the chocolate, which is as rich and creamy as gelato. Inventive choices include carrot-orange-ginger and raspberry-rose. Scoops start at $3.75 apiece, and you can choose from two kinds of waffle cones: traditional and pointy or molded into a cup, but look beyond the menu: Both locations of the company, established by Zachary Cox and Jessica Mortarotti (and named after her grandmother), keep a secret stash of flavors in the back.
