Beatrice Valenzuela

Best Handmade Leather Footwear, August 2014

Shoe designer Beatrice Valenzuela models her sandals, boots, and moccasins on traditional footwear from Mexico, South America, and Morocco. She crafts men’s, women’s, and children’s styles in a variety of colors, from natural neutrals to hand-dyed brights. The rustic stitching imparts authenticity and the recycled rubber soles lend green cred, but each pair, displayed among handmade objects that the shoemaker collects during her travels, stands on its own as folk art.
