Jet Propulsion Laboratory

Best Space Tour, August 2013

For a rare peek into a fully functioning space center complete with bona fide rocket scientists, no spot has more gravitational pull than the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. The research center has been responsible for some of the greatest moments in space history, from the Voyager probe to the Curiosity rover. After watching a documentary on planetary exploration narrated by Han Solo, aka Harrison Ford, guests on the guided tour meander through the sun-dappled campus, which is frequently visited by deer. Stops include an assembly facility and a cavernous mission control room, where giant screens display real-time data transmitted from Mars.
