Boone Children’s Gallery

Best Free Art Studio for Kids, August 2013

While grown-ups stroll through LACMA’s galleries and clink glasses at the free outdoor concerts, kids can make their own art at the museum’s Boone Children’s Gallery. Open every day except Wednesday (when LACMA is closed), the airy room is well equipped with paper, brushes, pigments, and friendly instructors, who guide budding Chagalls. A NexGen membership for kids 17 and younger offers free admission to Boone and museum shows when accompanied by an adult (who doesn’t have to be a member). It’s only a matter of time before the Gagosian Gallery comes calling.
