Lancer Automotive Service

Best Vintage Car Repair, May 2006

The shop doesn’t trumpet its vintage service, nor would a look into its lot of predominantly modern cars hint at it, but Lancer Automotive Service is the go-to grease pit for ailing classic cars. The honor owes less to owner Leon Kaplan’s Sunday-morning Motorman radio show on KABC than to the auto care overseen by his son Lance. Domestic cars, mostly from the ’50s through the ’70s, are the specialty, though more geriatric models, such as Chrysler Saratogas, are equally welcome to wheeze in. The L.A. Classic Chevy Club and private collectors make Lancer their first stop for elusive parts.
