Best New L.A. Comedian, August 2008
When Tiffany Haddish says she’s “Halle Berry meets Jim Carrey,” she’s right—sort of. She’s certainly a knockout, but her self-effacing skits about sexual exploits with midgets, prisoners, and anyone who’ll give her $5 actually put her closer to George Carlin. One second she’s sweet and innocent and you’d like to take her home to Mom, the next she’s using the mic in ways only your wicked uncle would appreciate. The twentysomething Haddish was a foster child from South L.A. when she joined a summer comedy camp. Since then she’s done stand-up on Def Comedy Jam and Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes. She appears frequently at the Laugh Factory.
