REMO

Best Free Weekend Activity, August 2010

Little ones who are constantly told to shush and sit still can let loose at the Kids Rhythm Club Drum Circle at REMO Recreational Music Center. The free weekly events take place Saturday mornings at 9:30 and 11 in a 10,000-square-foot warehouselike space. More than a hundred djembes, doumbeks, congas, lollipop drums, rainbow mallets, and sticks get a workout from dozens of toddlers who move about unrestricted during the jams. (There is an additional smaller event the first Sunday of the month at 11.) Blankets in the center of the circle accommodate the diaper set. And how’s this for amenities? Earplugs are supplied.
