Bacaro LA

Best Mid-City Wine Bar, August 2008

About as far as possible from Culver City—the wine bar capital of the region— Bacaro LA stands in the most incongruous of neighborhoods, West Adams, where it attracts Korean businessmen, downtown loft dwellers, and USC students. Inside, a long room illuminated by light filtered through empty wine bottles houses wood tables just large enough to hold a few plates of charcuterie, cheese, and cranberry bread and a flight of barbera. Italians are king here, as the list on the wall-size chalkboard indicates, but there are also rare dry Lambruscos and hard-to-find Kopke ports from the world’s oldest-known port house.
