Western Beat Special Edition: Billy Block Benefit Concert
April 10, 2014 @ 7:30 PM - 12:00 AM
Before becoming a mainstay of the Nashville country music scene, Billy Block played a key role in L.A.’s roots community for more than 20 years. He played drums in Ronnie Mack’s legendary Barndance and started the monthly Western Beat showcase at the now defunct Highland Grounds where Dave Alvin, Ryan Bingham, Rosie Flores, Robert Earl Keen, Jim Lauderdale, Lowen & Navarro, Lucinda Williams, and an “unplugged” Spinal Tap were just a few of the acts that graced the stage. Diagnosed with stage IV melanoma in December, the L.A. music community is rallying to support one of its most tireless advocates with a benefit concert. A $25 ticket gets you in to see a slew of performers including Teresa James & the Rhythm Tramps, Bliss Bowen, Marty Axelrod, Zydeco Party Band and many others. More information
