Some believe that the street artist Mr. Brainwash didn’t exist until the Banksy documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop, created him. Now, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers hiring MBW to plaster L.A. with their logos, it would seem that Thierry Guetta, the French transplant behind the persona, is the genuine article. But it’s still fun to guess whether his new show, rumored to go up this month in a warehouse at La Brea and Romaine, will happen. MBW’s calling card is there on one of the building’s walls: a giant Warholian soup can-cum-spray paint can spewing red onto the frazzled Memorex Man. More information.
