The Epic of Gilgamesh gets a modern interpretation by the L.A.-based hip-hop dance/theater company Antics Performance. Ten dancers represent central characters from the ancient Mesopotamian poem, which follows King Gilgamesh as he struggles with the meaning of life and death. Graffiti art, an animated short film, and original music take this classic out of the textbook and onto the 21st-century stage; choreography is by artistic director Amy “Catfox” Campion and her ensemble.
