Writer-art scenester Eve Babitz pulled the prank of the ’60s when she was photographed playing chess nude with Marcel Duchamp in the Pasadena Museum of Art. Julian Wasser snapped the image hours before the museum opened to the public one day. Listen to Babitz talk up the early years of L.A.’s art milieu in a free program at the Hammer. Joining her is journalist Hunter Drohojowska-Philp, whose new book, Rebels in Paradise, looks at local artists in the 1960s. More information.
