Adam Perry Lang’s Serious Backlot Barbecue Returns
October 7, 2014 @ 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
For a few weeks last summer, the smell of smoked meats hung heavy at the Jimmy Kimmel Live! backlot in Hollywood. The cause was ‘cue master Adam Perry Lang, a chef and cookbook author who posted up in Hollywood for three weeks serving brisket and ribs out of a massive custom-built smoker. The pop-up was such a hit, it’s hardly a surprise that he recently announced he plans to return to the backlot on Oct. 7, where for three weeks he’ll once more serve up a menu of long-smoked meats, ranging from beef short rib, prime brisket, and more—including high-end steak cuts like ribeye and New York strip. What’s different this year? Lang is toting a brand new 21-foot custom smoker, built by Aaron Franklin, the owner and pitmaster at Austin’s Franklin BBQ.
The truck will be open to the public for lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Oct. 24. Lang will also make free lunch deliveries daily to local after school programs and homeless centers. One quick reminder: This pop-up is cash only, and if you plan on ordering more expensive items, bring plenty of it. Menu items will range from $12 to $42.
