Ah, Christmas in L.A.: temperate weather and manageable traffic. Aside from people leaving town to visit family (no one is from here, remember?), our city’s numerous colleges and universities also go on break for half of December. Here’s when you can look forward to easier streets:
UCLA: Saturday, December 12
Dunzo! Westsiders can rejoice as Friday marked the last final exam of the season and an official end to this quarter. The next quarter gets started bright and early on January 4.
UC-Los Angeles: Sunday, December 13
The final exam at California University, Los Angeles happens on Saturday, December 12 with winter break beginning the following day. Classes begin again on January 3.
USC: Thursday, December 17
The last exam occurs on Wednesday, December 16, while winter break officially starts the next day and lasts until January 10. As one of the biggest employers in L.A. County, this should make a dent in congestion.
Pepperdine (Seaver College): Friday, December 18
The liberal arts undergraduate college at Pepperdine hosts its last final exam on Thursday, so PCH should calm down some after that.
Loyola Marymount, Saturday, December 19
The final exam at this private institution happens on Friday, December 18, so Marina del Rey begins its reprieve the following day.
Otis College of Art and Design, Sunday, December 20
Located near always-crazy LAX, this arts school hosts its final exam on Saturday, December 19.
Occidental College, Monday, December 21
This Eagle Rock institution shuts down rather late, beginning its winter break on December 21 and reopening January 4.
UC-Northridge: Wednesday, December 23
Valleyites, the last test will be taken at this California University campus on Tuesday, December 15, but the winter quarter doesn’t officially end until a week later. The break starts immediately after!
