Among Tom McIntyre’s impressive collection of 32 cars is a 10-time Trans-Am champion, a 1968 Chevrolet Sunoco Camaro Z28 once owned by Roger Penske. When driver Mark Donohue took the classic for a spin on the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca—an 11-turn, 2.38-mile “jewel of a course”—at last year’s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, a GoPro camera joined him for the very fast ride.
The Camaro, which completes just one lap in this video clip, exceeds 125 miles per hour. But for McIntyre, the most thrilling part of the race is the “corkscrew,” a blind, plunging downhill section captured around the two minute mark. Buckle up!
