Lyft’s Ride-Along For a Sick Six-Year-Old

In news that will melt and break your heart simultaneously, the ride-sharing service Lyft announced recently that they’re pulling out all the stops for Addie Fausset, a six-year-old Utah girl suffering from a chronic, fatal illness.

Addie’s brain is slowly filling with fluid; doctors have not yet diagnosed the specific malady. Her family believes this Christmas will be her last and are hoping to make it memorable by giving Addie a lifetime of holiday cards. Addie’s story and her family’s wish were featured on the website of Children and the Earth, a nonprofit aiding disadvantaged kids.

Lyft is now recruiting its drivers to help with the Christmas card effort. Across the nation, Lyft drivers are carrying specially-designed cards and markers so riders can send Addie, as well as her two sisters, a personalized Christmas card. If you’re not using Lyft during the season, tweet your message to @Lyft with the hashtag #DearAddie. The San Francisco-based company will turn your tweet into a card and get it to the girls by Christmas Day.
