Actor Jamie Foxx looks like a tough guy with a heart of gold—he cemented that image this week by pulling a man out of a fiery vehicle. When news broke of the Monday rescue outside of the star’s Hidden Hills home, it almost sounded too perfect; like a viral marketing attempt for Foxx’s latest project. Well, new video shows this incredible story is indeed real.
Brad Kyle—the father of Brett Kyle, the 32-year-old man pulled from the truck by Foxx and another bystander—later visited Foxx to thank him for his bravery.
“I think we all hope that we can do something when the time is there. But the question is do we act or do we fear our own lives, and he did not,” Brad Kyle told reporters. “[Foxx] was here when he needed to be here. He was here for my son. And as far as I am concerned, he saved his life.”
Brett Kyle, who was allegedly driving under the influence when his truck careened into a ditch and caught fire, is recovering from a broken collarbone and punctured lung. His father is pretty certain he would have died if Foxx and others didn’t take action. “I hate to say it, but a couple cars drove by and didn’t stop,” Kyle told NBC News. Talk about holding out for a hero.
