The much-heralded week of rain began with a whimper on Monday, but showed its true potential on Tuesday. A torrent of water washed over much of Los Angeles for hours on end, only breaking at about 2 p.m. The 101 near Ventura was partially closed, and roads around the Sepulveda Basin were shut down when the area was inundated by flooding, KTLA reported. An unlucky man in Van Nuys saw his adorable Mini Cooper get caught in the deluge. Check out his soggy morning below, as well as seven other images from El Niño 2016.
