What better voice than the calm, wise tenor of Shawshank Redemption actor Morgan Freeman to guide you past the mess that is the 405? To promote his new film, London Has Fallen, Freeman made his voice available for the real-time traffic app Waze.
Sure, Freeman wants you to get home safe and sane, but he’s also pushing his destructo-porn action sequel, which comes out March 4. The actor portrays the vice president in the movie and, on the app, he directs his instructions to “the president” (aka you).
“The American people are counting on you… to drive,” Freeman says in one of his lines. “Let’s go.”
Personally, we can live without the marketing gimmick. But if you need the reassuring baritone in your life, go to settings by hitting the Waze icon in the lower left corner of the app. Then tap on the gear icon that will appear in the upper lefthand corner. Go to sound, then voice language, and finally, Morgan Freeman.
As The Wrap points out, Freeman is not the first actor to lend his voice to Waze—Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kevin Hart have also. What about some famous actresses? Anyone would love to have Helen Mirren or Jennifer Lawrence take them home.
