For being a city perched on the ocean, we’ve always felt a little gypped in the seafood department. Sure, we’ve got some great upscale spots like Providence, but when it comes to slugging back a few dozen oysters in our bluejeans (yes, we call ’em bluejeans), our options are limited to Hungry Cat, Blue Plate Oysterette, and a smattering of others. If you ask us, that’s just not good enough.
Well, today comes news via Eater LA that Matthew Kaner and Dustin Lancaster, the team behind Los Feliz’s Bar Covell, are opening L&E Oyster Bar in Silver Lake. It’s taking over for Domenico, the tiny Italian spot across from LAMILL that closed a few months back. That’s all we know at this point, but it’s enough to get us excited. In the meantime, we whole-heartily recommend trying the fried oyster gougères sliders over at Ryan Sweeny and Andre Guerrero’s Little Bear. We approve. (Even if Sinosoul doesn’t.)
