Just in time for Sushi Week, Los Angeles magazine’s own ode to sustainable, safe and superb sushi, two new sushi restaurants have opened their doors.
First up, another location of Kazunori Nozawa’s sugarFISH opened late last week in Beverly Hills. The location is ideal because it’s one of the few approachable sushi spots within striking distance of downtown Beverly Hills. The big news here is about a private high end sushi bar in the back. Though Nozawasan himself will not be running the joint, the private dining bar is called Bar Nozawa. [Eater L.A., Squid Ink]
The second sushi restaurant to open this week is Osawa, which started serving Pasadena residents today. Sayuri Tachibe, a former model who is now married to Chaya corporate chef Shigefumi Tachibe, owns this spot. Tachibe seeks to highlight omotenashi, the Japanese art of hospitality. In the kitchen, chef de cuisine Norio Yoshikawa (Katsuya, Kagaya) is offering a wide variety of sushi, bar bites, curry dishes and even tsukemen udon. [Grub Street L.A.]
