Tripli-Kit Is a Chef-Curated Culinary Retail Shop by the Sea

Brooke Williamson and Nick Roberts are stocking their new boutique with everything that makes foodie hearts race

Culinary fiends have a new place to get their fix. Tripli-Kit, a retail shop curated by the married restaurateuring duo Brooke Williamson and Nick Roberts (Playa Provisions, Hudson House), made its debut this week. The airy Playa del Rey boutique designed by Jill Stevens of Dust + Co, which they’ve tucked right behind their gastropub The Tripel, stocks cookbooks, kitchenware, and other objects that make foodie hearts race.

“The community has been so incredibly supportive of us, and with the opening of this retail space we’re able to share some artisanal and small production culinary items that we would be proud to outfit our own home kitchens with—if we ever spent any time in them,” says the couple. “We handpicked all the items that Tripli-Kit carries, such as Black Creek Mercantile Trading Company cutting boards and Hedley & Bennett aprons which we wear as uniforms in all of our restaurants.”

The book selection includes cookbooks from restaurants and chefs, some of whom the couple counts as close friends, as well as titles with more singular focuses, like say, Karen Solomon‘s Asian Pickles (which is cleverly situated right next to actual jars of Pickled by Hattie pickles) or Vegetable Literacy from Deborah Madison. Pristine eye-candy displays of kitchen tools, like the aforementioned aprons, stoneware from Roost, and even hand-made cutting boards designed by Roberts, tempt from shiny blonde-wood shelves.

The shop is aimed at both seasoned and novice home cooks—inspired by their seven-year old son, the couple also made sure that the youngest of budding chefs weren’t left out of the equation.

As parents we really wanted to have section for kids, which is full of items for chefs-in-training, like lunchtime do-it-yourself books, fun lunch sacks, and kid-sized aprons,” they said.

More good news: Tripli-Kit’s opening coincides with the launch of  The Tripel’s new lunch service, so you can have a bite before you shop. If, perhaps, you live on the eastside and Playa del Rey seems world’s away, an online shop is coming soon, too.
