Tonight! Colman Andrews at Farmshop, Hot Knives Fry Falafel

It’s a big night for some of our foodiest friends:

First, local boy, Saveur magazine co-founder, cookbook giant, and occasional Los Angeles magazine contributor Colman Andrews returns home to sign copies of his new work, The Country Cooking of Italy, at Farmshop restaurant in Santa Monica. The event begins tonight at 6:30 p.m. followed by a four-course, family-style Italian feast around 7:15. The cost is $90 and reservations are recommended. (

On the other side of town, and much, much later, vegetarian food blogangsters and cookbook authors the Hot Knives are serving up what they claim to be the city’s best falafel—on the Eastside at least. Check out the dudes’ ball handling skills at El Falafel, the Knives’ one night only falafel sandwich pop-up which will serve from Elf Cafe’s late night window beginning at 10 p.m. this evening. The balls stop rolling at 2:30 a.m. …Balls. (Sorry Colman.) (, Hot Knives)
