Not since Grand Central Market started stockpiling food stands have so many impressive L.A. restaurants been under the same roof. On January 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. at 440 Seaton Street in the Arts District downtown, L.A. magazine will be hosting its annual Best New Restaurants event, featuring this year’s winners as well as honoring a select few from the previous crop.
There will be gourmet tastings from the chefs at The Bellwether, Birch, Broken Spanish, Faith & Flower, Jon & Vinny’s, Le Comptoir, Love & Salt, Redbird, Terrine, Union, and this year’s numero uno best new restaurant, Cassia. If handcrafted Bombay Sapphire cocktails, beer, wine, and live music are also up your alley, don’t worry, there’s plenty of that to go around too.
Unofficially headlining the event is chef Ray Garcia, Esquire magazine’s chef of the year, who will be cooking camote, his poached Okinawan sweet potato with chile de arbol-spiked pork that was named L.A. magazine’s dish of the year (yeah, his trophy case got a few sweet additions this year). Unless you’re—for some strange reason—averse to eating great food, drinking great drinks, and getting to chat up some the city’s fastest rising chefs, then click here to purchase your tickets.
* The event will take place on Jan 20 from 7-9 p.m. at 440 Seaton St. in the Arts District downtown. Tickets cost $70 and will be available for purchase online through Jan 19. Tickets will not be sold at the door and attendees must be 21 years of age or older.
