Highlights from the Santa Monica Farmers Market’s busiest time of year

The day before Thanksgiving is the busiest day of the year at the Santa Monica Farmers’ Market. On this day only, vendors can start selling as soon as their tables are set up (typically they cannot sell until 8:30am), so chefs and home cooks flood the market as early as 7am hoping to get first pick on their Thanksgiving ingredients. Vendors arrive with as much produce as they can fit in their trucks, and by8am Arizona Avenue is clogged with carts, strollers and unwieldy shopping bags. The vibe is hectic, yet convivial, and despite the near 80 degree temperatures it actually feels like Thanksgiving.
