Take-Out Tip of the Day: A Sushi Feast to Go at Hamasaku

A daily dining idea when you can only eat in
104

Is there such thing as sushi weather? Maybe, maybe not, but this week is as good a time as any to order takeout from Hamasaku. The beloved Westside strip-mall sushi joint recently reopened for pickup on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 7 p.m.

The $40 omakase is a solid deal with six pieces of sashimi, eight pieces of nigiri, a toro roll and a a cucumber salad. Or go for the $60 “favorites” option. It includes two appetizers—albacore with crispy onion and yellowtail with shishitos—three specialty rolls, two pieces of spicy tuna on crispy rice, and two Charlize tacos. The latter features spicy tuna and guac in fried wonton skins, and yes, they’re named after that Charlize, a regular at the restaurant.
