While the Cassia and Esters Wine Shop openings may have gotten a lion’s share of the food world hype (and for good reason), the always-busy Rustic Canyon team was working on a more under-the-radar project: a fourth location of their powerhouse ice cream shop, Sweet Rose Creamery, that opened Wednesday August 19. The newest haven for sweet treats fits snugly into a freshly shuttered Baskin Robbins location in Pacific Palisades where founder Josh Loeb grew up and currently resides with wife and head baker Zoe Nathan. The menu won’t change much from the other locations, and the team will stay true to its more upscale, farmers market-inspired flavors.
Even if you can’t make it all the way down to the Palisades (we understand the struggle), Sweet Rose is still offering up some cool deals elsewhere this weekend. On Saturday August 22nd, coffee partner Caffe Luxxe will be hosting a complimentary pour-over bar on the front patio of the Mid-City location (7565 Beverly Boulevard Los Angeles, CA 90036) between 12:30 and 5, with both hot and iced coffee available. On Sunday the 23, co-owner, executive chef, and Japanese native Shiho Yoshikawa will be hosting a pop up from 1 to 5 p.m. at Tortoise General Store (1208 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice, CA 90291), a boutique that focuses on local Japanese artists. Aside from her Japanese-inspired ice cream flavors, you can also get a taste of her new homemade almond milk.
Sweet Rose Creamery Pacific Palisades, 970 Monument St, Suite 103, Los Angeles CA 90272. Open 7 days a week, 11am to 11pm.
