Back in May, the James Beard folks teased with the news that they were bringing Taste America, their curated food event, to L.A.—but details were limited. Now, the official word is in. Taste America is coming to Union Station on Friday, October 11. There, guests will be treated to a happy hour of food truck food, starting at 6 p.m. At 8 p.m. a gala dinner will take place in the Grand Concourse. Unlike other tasting events, this is a formal dinner. Chefs Rick Bayless, Nobu Matsuhisa, Michael Cimarusti, Jeremy Fox, and Karen Hatfield will each prepare a course. Tickets for the dinner are priced at $185 per person.
On Saturday, October 12, James Beard’s host chef Rick Bayless stays in town to host events at Sur La Table at The Original Farmers Market on Third & Fairfax. All of the events on October 12 are free and open to the public.
