File this under shock and awe: a fried chicken concept called ChocoChicken is the next project from the combined minds of Adam Fleischman (Umami, Red Medicine, 800 Degrees), Keith Previte (who is described as a self-taught cook, party planner, and entertainment producer), and film producer and avid eater Sean Robins.
The “choco” part of the name refers to chocolate, which is infused into the batter before the bird is fried. Says Fleischman in a release: “ChocoChicken is completely different than anything else out there. This isn’t mole, traditional fried chicken or even chicken just dipped in chocolate. It is a whole new style of fried chicken that you just have to taste to believe. It’s got the ‘crack factor’ I look for in a great restaurant brand.”
We checked the calendar to be sure it wasn’t April 1.
In addition to the chocolate-battered chicken, ChocoChicken will serve biscuits, “new school” sides and sauces, and beverages from a full bar. The team hopes to open their novel concept this March in the South Park area of Downtown L.A. in the former Corkbar space.
