Roy Choi’s Sunny Spot Is Thiiiiis Close

From the looks of things at last night’s Bon Appetit “Toast to the Left Coast” party at A-Frame (chefs + overflowing punch bowls +  fried chicken = slammin’ party), Roy Choi’s upcoming Caribbean enterprise, Sunny Spot, is nearly ready. A private grand opening shindig is planned for the second week of November, with tables opening to the public shortly thereafter. So far we hear rumors of fried pigs feet and brown-sugar short ribs, as well as curried nibbles and other West Indian fare. The spot, formerly Beechwood, has received a spiffing up as well.

Love sweet-and-spicy braised meats and need a gig? A Craigslist ad promotes an upcoming Sunny Spot job fair for potential dining room and kitchen positions at the Brig (1515 Abbot Kinney) on Monday, 10/31 (also known as Halloween) and Tuesday, 11/1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. So what’s the Kogi founder looking for in a potential employee?

From the ad:

An incredibly positive attitude

– A genuine passion for quality food & drink

-A genuine concern for the well-being of others

-An enthusiasm for being part of something bold & new

-A strong work ethic

-A genuine understanding and enjoyment in working with others as a team

Bold? Passionate? Strong? Understanding? Ooh la la. If you’ve got it, flaunt it—just maybe not in your Charles Manson Halloween costume—next week. The full Craigslist ad is here.
