Round of Applause: The Village Kitchen

A Portobello mushroom sandwich just tastes better when it’s for a good cause, am I right? Ditto a smoked salmon and chive omelet. So let’s all give a warm round of applause and a hearty welcome to The Village Kitchen. The Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children is behind this new breakfast and lunch spot near Echo Park that will be fully staffed by center residents, and all profits from the café will go toward funding the center’s many programs.

According to a press release:

“The Village Kitchen serves several purposes in our community: to help homeless women toward an independent life; to equip them with practical job training and skills; to create a connection with our surrounding community; and to serve a simple but delicious selection of sandwiches, salads, baked goods, coffee and other drinks.”
