What’s all this about pupu, you ask? Over the last several weeks, the public was invited to dine at the competing chefs restaurants and try their signature take on the Hawaiian nibble, the pupu. People then went online to vote for their favorites, and the final two winners will be competing tonight for the pupu crown! (It won’t stop). Judging the final competition are Los Angeles magazine dine editor Lesley Bargar Suter (aka, me), Roy Yamaguchi of Roy’s Restaurants, and Ed Kenney of Town Kaimuki restaurant in Honolulu. The tropical throwdown takes place during an epic party tonight at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows. And you’re invited!
Along with passed samples of the pupus up for judgment will be the chefs’ creative riffs on SPAM, pork tacos by FIG chef Ray Garcia (who will also be doing a cooking demo), Pineapple Mosquito cocktails, wine, and beer!
