Yesterday I finally hit up the Altadena Farmer’s market, the newish gathering of food-craft vendors which has been receiving immense buzz lately—including a piece in the latest issue of Bon Appetit. It also happens to take place at the inconvenient time of 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, which is why I hadn’t made it out to the Loma Alta Park earlier. Yesterday, however, I managed to sneak out of the office, and my cunning was rewarded with an incredible coffee soda from local roasters Plow & Gun. Served from a tap, the carbonated caffeine jolt is subtly sweetened and spiced with cardamom. It’s also available in float form featuring a scoop of ice cream from Sierra Madre’s Mother Moo Creamery. This was hands down the best thing I’ve sipped in a long time—and considering that it’s booze-free, that’s saying something.
That darn job keeping you occupied Wednesday afternoons? No worries. Plow & Gun recently installed a tap at Mother Moo’s brick-and-mortar shop, so you can try the bubbly cold-brew anytime.
