The cruise industry has seen better weeks than the last couple. Like, way better. But today comes news of some hope on the horizon. (And no, it’s not a rescue boat.) Our own Japanese-Peruvian sushi wizard Nobu Matsuhisa (Matsuhisa, Nobu restaurants) is teaming with the high-end Crystal Cruises to host a luxury “foodie cruise” this May. Departing from London on May 24, the Crystal Serenity will carry Nobu and a few thousand passengers on a 12-day voyage through western Europe and the Mediterranean where the chef will make nightly appearances at the ship’s restaurant Silk Road, host a special omakase dinner with sake pairings, run a hands-on cooking class, and sign copies of the Nobu cookbooks.
The cruise itself is the “Bordeaux and Beyond” Itinerary which leaves from London and sails through Bordeaux, Lisbon, Monte Carlo, Florence, and other food-centric ports of call. The $3,955 fare includes all edibles (aside from the omakase dinner), as well as life jackets. Because, you know, you might need them.
