Monkish Brewing Co.’s second anniversary celebration is taking place at the Torrance brewery’s taproom this weekend, with special beer releases and $1 off all 8-12 oz. pours.
Saturday’s festivities include:
Tapping a cask of Shaolin Kick, a variation of Monkish’s Shaolin Fist—a Belgian-style dubbel ale that’s spiced with Sichuan peppercorns—that’s been kicked up even more with Thai basil and Sriracha.
Bottle release and keg tapping of Select Monk 2, a Belgian-style dubbel with figs that was brewed in collaboration with Redondo Beach’s Select Beer Store, which is celebrating its own second anniversary the same day as Monkish.
Grub available from the Lobos Truck.
On deck for Sunday:
Another cask of Shaolin Kick, only this one uses some wicked hot chile peppers: Bhot Jolokia (ghost peppers) and Fatalii.
Bottle release & keg tapping of Apophatic, a Belgian-style strong dark ale brewed with orange peels, cinnamon, coriander seed, and fennel seed.
Growler fills of the coveted Seme Della Vita, a Belgian-style tripel ale made with vanilla bean and pistachios.
Grub available from Son of a Bun.
The brewery doors will be open extended hours to celebrate: Saturday from 12 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 12 to 6 p.m. More information.
